This policy explains what The Kernel Post collects when you read the site or subscribe, and what we do with it.
Reading the site
You do not need an account to read The Kernel Post. Our publishing platform records basic request information — pages requested, approximate location derived from IP, referrer and browser type — which we use in aggregate to understand what is being read. We do not sell this, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
Subscribing
If you subscribe, we store the email address you give us and a record of which emails were sent, delivered and opened. We use it to send you the newsletter you asked for and nothing else. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing stops delivery immediately.
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work — keeping you signed in if you are a member, and remembering that you dismissed a prompt. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Third parties
The site is published with Ghost and uses a content delivery network to serve pages and fonts. These providers process requests on our behalf in order to deliver the site. Email delivery for the newsletter is handled by our email provider. We do not share subscriber lists with anyone else.
Correspondence
If you write to us — a tip, a correction request, an enquiry — we keep that correspondence so we can act on it and so we have a record of how a correction was handled.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to privacy@kernelpost.com and we will respond. If you are in the UK or EU, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will say so on this page rather than updating it silently.
